Butterscotch Scarf

This scarf is the newest item to reach the finished stage!  I knit this scarf in an oblique rib with Cascade Natural Baby Alpaca yarn.  This yarn was wonderful to work with, extremely soft and knits up beautifully!  This scarf is a gift for my mother, let me know what you think of it!

Green & Brown BeeStitch Cowl

A few weeks ago after I finished the black and lime green cowl a coworker expressed her love for it and requested a custom one in green and brown.  I just finished it two nights ago and finally took pictures.  I think the colors complement each other really well!  My customer is extremely thrilled and super warm!

Knit Cap

I just finished a small women’s cap with button embellishments.  This hat will fit an average size female head (approx. 22 inch) and is to be worn more as an accessory.  The small buttons on the side offer a bit of embellishment on an otherwise plain cap.

Enjoy!

Hand-dying and knitting…

A few weeks ago a friend requested a beanie, they also asked if it could be lime green, blue, and black which I would have to dye myself since I couldn’t find anyone who sold a yarn in those three specific colors. My adventure of hand-dying these colors to perfection began with some frustration.  I came home and dug through my dozens of dyes only to find that the only dye color I actually had was black and that I would need to work with the blue to get it to the right shade.  I scoured the internet to see how to make the green and after many mad scientist experiments I achieved the color I needed.  I ended up using Wilton icing gel to make the shade of green I needed and I have to say, it works just as well (if not better) than acid dyes. After waiting a tortuously long time for the yarn to dry, I knit up the beanie…there ended up being two versions and below is the first.  The other version is sitting happily upon the head of my friend.

With all of that said…here are the fruits of my labor!  Let me know what you think!

New things are almost here!

A few days ago I posted that new things would be coming your way and they’re almost here!  I currently have two projects going on at the moment while I wait for the yarn for my custom orders to arrive.  (I sincerely love getting mail…especially when it’s a yarn package!)  The first project will be a capelet when it is complete, it was started last year and is knit in a black/white alpaca yarn.  It is super soft :)   The second project is going to be a hat, one that is similar to the caramel cloche with a feather pin.  It is being knit in grey and will have a fun feather to go with!

If you are a fan of KP Studio on facebook then you may have heard I am working on building a website that will showcase all of my currently knit items with details about the item, prices and how to purchase.  Stay tuned and tell your friends about me. :)

A little old fashioned…

For Christmas I received a copy of Laura Irwin’s “Boutique Knits” and was instantly inspired by her classy yet modern designs. This cloche style hat is a spin off of one of her hats. I used the same sideways stitch pattern but modified it to suit my own style.
I’ve been wanting to do something with feathers for a while, so I went in search of some to match the yarn I was using. I was so happy to find feathers to match and I was lucky enough to find a button to go as well!!!
This hat is super soft and super warm. It’s 100% Baby Alpaca by Cascade Yarns.
Hope you enjoy :)
